Forging a Monument to History and Passing on the Spirit of the Chinese People

The Australian Museum of Chinese History

China, as one of the four ancient civilizations of the world, has a cultural heritage spanning five thousand years. Throughout history, every dynasty has strongly promoted and supported the preservation of family history. Tracing one’s roots and ancestry is a vital part of Chinese civilization. Families not only pass down the virtues of their ancestors but also carry forward the cultural spirit that is handed down through generations.

Since the discovery of gold in Australia in 1850, a global gold rush was set in motion. Gold prospectors from around the world flocked to Australia. Many laborers left behind their original tools and made their way to the goldfields, carrying dreams of transforming their lives. As a significant part of Australia's immigration history, Chinese people began arriving on these shores during the 19th-century gold rush, and successive waves of immigrants have continued to settle here ever since. They brought with them the spirit of hard work, wisdom, and resilience, pursuing their dreams and writing their own chapters in Australian history.

Wherever there are Chinese people, there is history. Today, with the support of various sectors and the Sydney City Council, the Australian Museum of Chinese History is about to open. The museum will showcase 200 years of Chinese migration and struggles in Australia. On this vast continent, the Chinese community has not only left behind a rich cultural heritage but has also made outstanding contributions to Australia's multiculturalism and prosperity. The establishment of this museum is a historic event that many have long awaited, and it holds great symbolic significance.

Currently, the museum is actively raising funds, with plans to build a modern exhibition hall that meets 21st-century standards. At the same time, we are inviting tenders for the museum's architectural design. We sincerely invite business leaders and architects from around the world to support this significant cause and contribute to the construction of the Australian Museum of Chinese History. Your donation will not only be etched into the museum's history but will also be celebrated for generations to come.

The Australian Museum of Chinese History is dedicated to tracing and showcasing this magnificent history. From the early gold miners’ hard-fought struggles to the later achievements in social integration and excellence, each exhibit tells a story of dreams and hopes. Through these exhibitions, we hope more people will come to understand the outstanding contributions made by the Chinese in Australia and feel the pulse of their cultural heritage and spiritual strength.

This museum is not only a recorder of history but will also serve as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future. We also aim to gather national spirit by organizing a calligraphy and painting auction, inviting collectors to support and engage. We hope to inspire future generations to draw strength and wisdom from the stories of their ancestors and continue to write even more glorious chapters for Chinese Australians in a multicultural society.
